Same stop, two plans: the losing-trade ladder

Pick a size, the stage and how the losses fall. Each ladder counts full-stop losing trades in a row from a fresh account until it fails. All in one day: you keep trading through the day. Spread over days: you stop before the next loser would reach the daily limit and carry on the next day.

Account size
Stage
How the losses fall
Instrument (point values are CME contract specs, not FTMO figures)

Risk per losing trade: $50

How the count works (ours): FTMO checks its limits on equity, which cannot hit them at any point, so the trade that reaches a limit is the one that fails or pauses you.

From a fresh start a losing run never raises the floor. Growth Evaluation: no daily limit, so only the drawdown ends it. Pro: the hard daily limit ends it on the day it is reached. Growth Sim-Funded: the soft daily limit closes the trade at the limit (we ignore slippage) and pauses you until the next day; the account ends when the drawdown is reached. Sim-Funded ladders use the starting contract limit, because a losing run never scales it up.

Tags are a TradeDesk HQ rule of thumb, not an FTMO rule. TOO TIGHT: the account fails within 5 losing trades. WORKABLE: it fails on trade 6 to 9. COMFORTABLE: not before trade 10. OVER CONTRACT LIMIT: more contracts than the size allows at that stage.

Educational, not advice. The ladder ignores commissions and slippage. Confirm every figure on FTMO's Trading Objectives & Rules page before buying.

The short answer

Same on both: one Evaluation with no time limit, $3,000 / $6,000 / $9,000 targets, an end-of-day trailing drawdown on equity that locks at the starting balance, 5 / 10 / 15 contracts, a 90/10 split, no activation fee, no consistency rule once Sim-Funded, and up to 3 Sim-Funded Accounts.

Different:

  • Drawdown: Pro gives $1,000 more room ($3,000 / $4,500 / $6,000 vs $2,000 / $3,500 / $5,000).
  • Evaluation daily loss: Growth has none, so only the drawdown can fail it (a single $2,000 / $3,500 / $5,000 day still does). Pro's is hard at $1,000 / $1,500 / $2,000: hit it once and the Evaluation fails.
  • Consistency: best day 40% or less on Growth (fastest pass 3 days), 50% on Pro (2 days).
  • Price: Pro costs $20 / $30 / $40 more per month and per reset (our arithmetic).
  • Sim-Funded daily loss: Growth's soft $1,000 / $2,000 / $3,000 pauses the day; Pro's hard $1,000 / $1,500 / $2,000 ends the account.
  • Payouts: Growth 4 Qualifying Days, up to 50% of profit, caps $2,500 / $3,000 / $4,000. Pro 5 days at higher thresholds, up to 100%, caps $5,000 / $6,000 / $8,000, but a payout that takes the balance back to the start sits on the locked floor (ours; see item e).

Pick Growth if your worst normal day can go past $1,000 / $1,500 / $2,000 but your total risk fits inside $2,000 / $3,500 / $5,000; you want to pay $20 to $40 less a month; and you accept 50% withdrawals and lower caps in return for a funded daily stop that pauses you instead of ending the account (the drawdown still applies).

Pick Pro if you keep every day well inside the hard daily limit; you want $1,000 more drawdown, a 50% consistency rule and $5,000 to $8,000 caps; you accept paying $20 to $40 more a month and needing 5 Qualifying Days at higher thresholds; and you leave a cushion above the floor when you withdraw.

Full summary

FTMO Futures Growth and Pro share one Evaluation phase with the same profit targets ($3,000 / $6,000 / $9,000 for 50K / 100K / 150K), the same contract limits and a 90/10 split. Pro gives $1,000 more end-of-day trailing drawdown ($3,000 / $4,500 / $6,000 vs $2,000 / $3,500 / $5,000) but adds a hard Daily Loss Limit of $1,000 / $1,500 / $2,000 that fails the account if hit, a 50% consistency rule (Growth 40%) and costs $139 / $199 / $269 a month vs $119 / $169 / $229. Once Sim-Funded, Growth has a soft daily limit and lets you withdraw up to 50% of profit per request (caps $2,500 / $3,000 / $4,000); Pro keeps a hard limit and allows up to 100% (caps $5,000 / $6,000 / $8,000).

FTMO's 50K Growth example: how the floor moves. Green: end-of-day balance (change that day). Red: drawdown floor. From FTMO's Trading Objectives & Rules page, 50K Growth Evaluation: closes of $51,000, $50,500 and $52,500. The floor follows the best close minus $2,000, never moves down, and locks at the $50,000 starting balance. The dashed line is the $53,000 pass balance. Pro works the same way with $3,000 (floor starts at $47,000).

Evaluation: drawdown and daily loss

Both plans have one Evaluation phase with no time limit. You pass once your balance is above the starting balance by the Profit Target ($3,000 / $6,000 / $9,000, so a balance of $53,000 / $106,000 / $159,000) with all positions closed; FTMO checks after the end of the trading day, which runs from 6:00 p.m. to 4:10 p.m. ET. The Max Drawdown is end-of-day trailing and is measured on equity (balance plus open P&L minus commissions), which cannot hit the limit at any point: Growth $2,000 / $3,500 / $5,000, Pro $3,000 / $4,500 / $6,000. The limit is set at the start of each trading day from the highest previous close, only moves up, and locks at the starting balance. FTMO's 50K Growth example: the limit starts at $48,000; after a $51,000 close it is $49,000; after a $50,500 close it stays $49,000; after a $52,500 close it locks at $50,000. FTMO's 50K Pro example starts at $47,000. Growth has no Daily Loss Limit in the Evaluation. Pro has a Hard Daily Loss Limit of $1,000 / $1,500 / $2,000 below the start-of-day balance; hitting it fails the Evaluation.

What this means for you: Pro gives you $1,000 more total room, but any single day that reaches its daily limit ends the Evaluation. On Growth only the drawdown can fail you, even if it all goes in one day.

Consistency and how fast you can pass

In the Evaluation your best day (the highest closed profit in one trading day) may be at most 40% of total profit on Growth and 50% on Pro. Going over is not a breach: you keep trading until the best day is back under the limit. FTMO's 50K Growth example: days of $2,000 and $1,000 make $3,000, but the best day is 66.7% of it, so you need $5,000 in total if day one stays your best. There is no minimum number of days, but because of this rule FTMO says the fastest pass is 3 trading days on Growth and 2 on Pro. The Sim-Funded Account has no consistency rule on either plan.

What this means for you: One big day can hold you back on both plans but never fails you. Pro's 50% rule lets you pass in 2 days; Growth needs at least 3.

Costs: subscription and resets

Both plans are a monthly subscription with no activation fee: Growth $119 / $169 / $229, Pro $139 / $199 / $269. A Reset restarts the Evaluation straight away for $109 / $159 / $219 on Growth or $129 / $189 / $259 on Pro; there is no limit on resets and your billing date does not change. If you breach and do not reset, the subscription keeps running and you get a new Evaluation account on the next billing date. The subscription is cancelled once you pass, so the Sim-Funded Account costs nothing more, and you can cancel any time in the Client Area.

What this means for you: Growth is the cheaper monthly bill. After a breach, choose between paying a reset now or waiting for the next billing date.

Sim-Funded risk rules

After you pass, results are typically reviewed in 1-3 business days, then you complete FTMO Identity and sign the Sim-Funded Terms. The Sim-Funded Account has the same size and the same drawdown amounts, with no profit target and no consistency rule. Its drawdown limit locks at the starting balance for the life of the account, and a breach ends the account; it cannot be reset. Daily loss differs: Growth has a soft limit of $1,000 / $2,000 / $3,000 that closes your positions and suspends trading for the rest of the day without ending the account, while Pro has a hard limit of $1,000 / $1,500 / $2,000 that terminates the account immediately. At 100K and 150K Growth's daily room is the larger one.

What this means for you: On Growth a bad funded day pauses you unless it also reaches the drawdown; on Pro the same kind of day ends the account. Size your funded trading to the daily limit, not just the drawdown.

Payouts: how much and how often

A payout cycle needs Qualifying Days with closed P&L at or above a threshold, reviewed at the end of the day: Growth 4 days at $150 / $250 / $300, Pro 5 days at $200 / $300 / $500. FTMO's shorthand is a payout every 4 days on Growth and every 5 on Pro. Growth lets you request up to 50% of your profit above the starting balance, Pro up to 100%, and each request is capped at $2,500 / $3,000 / $4,000 on Growth and $5,000 / $6,000 / $8,000 on Pro. At least 50% of a requested amount must be new profit from the current cycle (FTMO's example: $2,000 kept from the last cycle plus $400 new allows $800). The minimum payout is $20 and the split is 90/10, so a $2,000 request pays $1,800. Confirming a request closes all positions, the amount comes off the balance at once, and FTMO's withdrawal FAQ warns Pro traders not to violate the Max Drawdown by requesting a full withdrawal.

What this means for you: Pro lets you take more per request, but it needs 5 Qualifying Days at higher thresholds, and taking everything leaves no room above the floor.

Contracts and scaling

The Evaluation allows 5 / 10 / 15 contracts on both plans, with 10 micros counting as one mini (50 / 100 / 150 micros). The Sim-Funded Account starts lower, at 2 / 4 / 6 contracts (20 / 40 / 60 micros), and scales with end-of-day profit above the starting balance: 50K reaches 3 contracts from $1,000 and 5 from $2,000; 100K 5 from $1,000, 8 from $2,000 and 10 from $3,000; 150K 8 from $1,000, 10 from $2,000, 12 from $3,000 and 15 from $4,500. The limit drops back the next day if the balance falls. The steps are the same on Growth and Pro.

What this means for you: Expect fewer contracts on day one of the funded account than you had in the Evaluation; the full limit comes back with profit.

Rules on both plans

Hold no positions or resting orders past 4:10 p.m. ET or the market close, whichever is sooner (the platform liquidates them, but FTMO says not to rely on it). News trading is allowed in every phase. No new positions within 2% of a CME price limit (for most equity index futures the first limit is 7%, so no new positions after a 5% move). Automated strategies are allowed, but copying a third party and hedging across accounts are not. A Sim-Funded Account with no trading for 30 days is closed. You can run unlimited Evaluations and hold up to 3 Sim-Funded Accounts across Growth and Pro; accounts cannot be merged. The Live Funded Account is by FTMO's invitation only, with a one-time buffer before the first payout, then daily payouts with no cap at 90/10 and a market data fee. FTMO does not offer it in some countries it lists, and states no Growth vs Pro difference for it.

What this means for you: Be flat before 4:10 p.m. ET every day on either plan. News trading is fine; stay away from CME price limits.

FTMO Futures' Forbidden Trading Practices page (dateModified 22 September 2026, read on 18 October 2026) and its FAQ Which instruments can I trade and what strategies am I allowed to use? (dateModified 12 September 2026, read on 18 October 2026) say automated trading, algorithmic trading and EAs are permitted if the strategy is legitimate, replicable in live markets and not a Forbidden Trading Practice; systems that manipulate, abuse or give an unfair advantage (including HFT and latency arbitrage) are not; third-party EAs risk Sim-Funded denial because FTMO requires a unique strategy. The Forbidden page states automated trading is permitted, but you must not use any software, artificial intelligence or automated systems that manipulate, abuse or provide an unfair advantage, including high-frequency strategies and latency arbitrage, and you are fully responsible for all activity generated by your automated systems. On copying: copying another trader (signals, master accounts or trade copiers) is forbidden; copy trading across your own accounts is permitted if each account independently complies with all rules. The page also bans replicating, following or otherwise incorporating the trading decisions of any third party into your Evaluation or Sim-Funded Account.

What this means for you: FTMO Futures allows bots and EAs with a unique, real-market strategy; no third-party copy, own-account copy OK.

Where FTMO's pages differ

(a) The product pages say 'Up to $450,000 in simulated capital', while the accounts FAQ says there is no maximum total capital allocation and the limit is simply the 3 Sim-Funded Accounts (3 × 150K is $450,000, our arithmetic). (b) The FAQ 'How does your Consistency Rule work?' in the Futures section lists only FTMO's CFD challenges; the Futures objectives page is the one that sets 40% on Growth and 50% on Pro. (c) The Futures overview says Pro has 'High payout caps of $5,000 and $8,000' and skips the 100K cap of $6,000 shown in the comparison table. (d) An FAQ link reads 'Can I modify my platform or account type?' but the answer covers platforms only; FTMO does not say whether you can switch between Growth and Pro. (e) The objectives page's Pro examples say a $4,000 profit lets you request up to $4,000 ($5,000 and $7,000 likewise), while the withdrawal FAQ warns that a full withdrawal on a Pro Sim-Funded Account can violate the Max Drawdown. FTMO does not spell out what happens, so ask support before taking 100%.

What this means for you: When two FTMO pages disagree, follow the Trading Objectives & Rules page and ask support, especially before a 100% Pro withdrawal.

Our arithmetic (not FTMO figures)

Target-to-drawdown: Growth 1.5 / 1.71 / 1.8, Pro 1 / 1.33 / 1.5 (FTMO: 'as low as 1:1'). Price gap: Pro costs $20 / $30 / $40 more per month and per reset. Best day if you pass exactly at the target: Growth $1,200 / $2,400 / $3,600, Pro $1,500 / $3,000 / $4,500. Floors start at $48,000 / $96,500 / $145,000 on Growth and $47,000 / $95,500 / $144,000 on Pro, and lock at the starting balance once a close reaches $52,000 / $103,500 / $155,000 on Growth or $53,000 / $104,500 / $156,000 on Pro; on Pro 50K that is the pass balance itself, so in the Evaluation it locks only once you reach the target. Full cap: to request the whole cap you need $5,000 / $6,000 / $8,000 of profit above the start on both plans (on Growth because only 50% is withdrawable). The floor never moves down, so a payout comes out of your drawdown room: after taking the full cap at that profit, Growth keeps $2,500 / $3,000 / $4,000 of room while Pro is left at the floor with $0 (see item e). One-day losses: Growth's Evaluation has no daily cap, so a $2,000 / $3,500 / $5,000 day ends it; Pro's ends at $1,000 / $1,500 / $2,000. Spread over days, Pro's extra $1,000 of drawdown counts. On a 50K Growth Sim-Funded Account a $1,000 day pauses you, and the next day's soft limit sits on the $48,000 floor, so a second such day ends the account. The losing-trade calculator uses CME contract specs, not FTMO figures: MNQ $2, MES $5, NQ $20, ES $50 per point. Its tags are our rule of thumb: TOO TIGHT within 5 losing trades, WORKABLE 6 to 9, COMFORTABLE 10 or more.

What this means for you: Pro's edge is room spread over several days and bigger payouts; Growth's edge is no daily cap in the Evaluation, a cheaper bill and a funded cushion after payouts.

FAQ

What is the difference between FTMO Futures Growth and Pro?

Both have one Evaluation with $3,000 / $6,000 / $9,000 targets, 5 / 10 / 15 contracts and a 90/10 split. Pro has more drawdown ($3,000 / $4,500 / $6,000 vs $2,000 / $3,500 / $5,000) but a hard Daily Loss Limit of $1,000 / $1,500 / $2,000, a 50% consistency rule instead of 40%, a higher price, and Sim-Funded payouts of up to 100% of profit with $5,000 / $6,000 / $8,000 caps; Growth allows 50% with $2,500 / $3,000 / $4,000 caps. Can one bad day fail an FTMO Futures account?

Yes on both plans, in different ways. Growth has no daily limit in the Evaluation, so a single day that loses the whole $2,000 / $3,500 / $5,000 drawdown ends it; Pro's hard Daily Loss Limit fails the Evaluation at $1,000 / $1,500 / $2,000. On the Sim-Funded Account Growth's soft limit of $1,000 / $2,000 / $3,000 pauses trading for the rest of the day (unless the loss also reaches the Max Drawdown, which still ends the account; after earlier losses the two can coincide), while Pro's hard limit of $1,000 / $1,500 / $2,000 terminates the account. How much do FTMO Futures Growth and Pro cost?

Growth is $119 / $169 / $229 a month and Pro $139 / $199 / $269 for 50K / 100K / 150K, with resets at $109 / $159 / $219 and $129 / $189 / $259. There is no activation fee, the subscription keeps running after a breach (a new account arrives on the next billing date) and it is cancelled when you pass. (per ftmo.com, checked )

How much can I withdraw from an FTMO Futures Sim-Funded Account?

Growth needs 4 Qualifying Days of $150 / $250 / $300 and pays up to 50% of profit above the start, capped at $2,500 / $3,000 / $4,000 per request. Pro needs 5 days of $200 / $300 / $500 and pays up to 100%, capped at $5,000 / $6,000 / $8,000. You keep 90%, the minimum is $20, and FTMO warns that a full withdrawal on Pro can violate the Max Drawdown. (per ftmo.com, checked )

How many FTMO Futures accounts can I have?

There is no limit on Evaluations, each on its own monthly subscription, and you can hold up to 3 Sim-Funded Accounts at once across Growth and Pro. FTMO says there is no maximum total capital allocation beyond that account limit, and accounts cannot be merged. (per ftmo.com, checked )
