The short answer

Same on both: up to 5 funded accounts in total, no maximum withdrawal, wallet-to-bank review up to 12 business hours, a $50 fee on wallet withdrawals of $250 or less, Plaid, PayPal or Wise, a signed tax form before withdrawing, and the same news, weekly-trading, counter-position, limit up/down and no-bots rules.

Different:

  • Split: PRO 80/20; PRO+ and PRO+ Development 90/10.
  • Buffer: PRO must reach $26,500 / $52,000 / $77,500 / $103,000 / $154,500 first (25K to 150K); PRO+ has none, but $5,000 of PRO profit stays frozen.
  • Drawdown: PRO trails intraday including open profit; PRO+ starts at $0 and trails end of day. Development is tighter ($750 to $2,250, soft-breach daily loss limit).
  • Speed: Tradovate PRO account-to-wallet is automated in 5-10 seconds; PRO+ and Rithmic PRO are manual.
  • Resets: PRO up to 3 ($449 to $1,499); PRO+ none.
  • Commissions: PRO $4.50 / $1.50 per round trip; PRO+ broker rates.
  • Earnings days: PRO+ live trading closes at 4:01 PM ET on select Magnificent 7 and SpaceX earnings days from October 20, 2026; PRO keeps 4:55 PM ET.

Pick PRO if you're starting out. PRO is the only one you can get yourself, by passing the Trading Test, and it suits you if you can leave the buffer in the account, want automated Tradovate withdrawals in seconds and want a paid reset option.

Pick PRO+ if Take Profit Trader invites you; you can't buy or apply for it. It suits you if you're ready for live fills and closer risk review, want 90/10 with no buffer, can leave $5,000 of PRO profit frozen, and accept manual withdrawals, no reset and possible placement in PRO+ Development.

Plain-language terms

Buffer zoneTake Profit Trader uses it for both the amount (equal to the max drawdown, $2,000 on 50K) and the balance you must reach ($52,000 on 50K). See Where pages differ (b).
Profit splitHow a withdrawal is shared: PRO 80/20 (you keep 80%), PRO+ 90/10 (you keep 90%). The withdrawal form deducts the firm's share automatically.
Intraday trailing drawdownPRO's floor: it follows your peak balance during the day, including open (unrealized) profit, and stops once it reaches the starting balance.
End-of-day (EOD) drawdownPRO+'s floor: it only moves up with realized profit at the end of the trading day, and stops at $0.
Minimum account balanceThe floor itself. Touching it, even on an open loss, closes the account.
WalletYour TPT wallet. Every withdrawal goes account → wallet first, then wallet → bank, PayPal or Wise as a second request.
Account-to-wallet withdrawalStep 1. Automated in 5-10 seconds on Tradovate PRO accounts; manual on Rithmic PRO, PRO+ and some other accounts.
Wallet-to-bank payoutStep 2. Admin review of up to 12 business hours, then Plaid, PayPal or Wise. A wallet withdrawal of $250 or less costs $50.
PRO+Take Profit Trader's live account, offered by email invitation only. 90/10, no buffer, starts at $0.
PRO+ DevelopmentA PRO+ version with reduced contracts, a soft-breach daily loss limit and a smaller end-of-day drawdown. Same payout policy.
Soft breachHitting the PRO+ Development daily loss limit pauses you instead of failing the account; the article does not say for how long.
Live-capital cooldownPRO+ Development only: a $10,000 net loss of TPT's live capital in a rolling 30-day window pauses new purchases for 30 days. Withdrawals keep working.
Frozen $5,000At the PRO+ upgrade, $5,000 of PRO profit must stay in the PRO account while PRO+ is active.
Round tripA trade opened and closed. One round trip in a week counts as a traded day; commissions are quoted per round trip.

How the PRO buffer works

In the PRO account the buffer equals the maximum drawdown, and the PRO drawdown equals the drawdown of the Trading Test you passed: $1,500 on 25K, $2,000 on 50K, $2,500 on 75K, $3,000 on 100K and $4,500 on 150K. Take Profit Trader's own example: on a $50,000 account the maximum drawdown, which it calls the buffer zone, is $2,000, so you need a balance of $52,000 to start withdrawing at 80% of total profit. The firm's buffer table lists the resulting balances ($26,500, $52,000, $77,500, $103,000, $154,500) under the same 'buffer zone' label, so the term covers both the amount and the balance. The firm says you can withdraw from day one and that payout eligibility is daily, but also that the buffer must be built first; its help center does not describe any withdrawal before the buffer zone is reached. See Where Take Profit Trader's pages differ, items (b) and (c), for what 'buffer zone' and '80% of total profit' can mean.

What this means for you: On 50K, plan to keep $52,000 in the account; withdraw only what sits above it.

What happens to the buffer when the account closes

Take Profit Trader's withdrawal rules say: 'You can withdraw 50% of your Buffer Zone after your account is closed.' The article does not say whether that is half of the drawdown amount or half of the listed balance, whether the 80/20 split applies to it, or whether a liquidated account counts as closed. We do not compute a figure from it; confirm with the firm before relying on it.

What this means for you: Don't count on getting the buffer back; ask Take Profit Trader before closing.

Payout step 1: trading account to wallet

Your PRO balance in the Control Center is not real time; it updates once a day between 8 and 9 PM ET. You must be flat with no open positions or working orders at the exact moment you submit, and the 20% commission is deducted automatically so the form shows the 80% you receive. On Tradovate PRO accounts the account-to-wallet step is automated and takes 5-10 seconds with no pending window; Take Profit Trader's own example is profit at 3 PM, funds in the wallet the same evening. A request is denied only for insufficient funds, open positions or working orders, Tradovate maintenance or a Tradovate API fault, and can be resubmitted immediately. Rithmic PRO accounts, PRO+ accounts, cancelled or disabled PRO accounts, and a small number of archived Tradovate PRO accounts (flagged by Tradovate after three or more days of liquidation) still go through manual review. The firm gives no current time for that step; it says the old manual review could take up to 12 business hours and that automating the rest frees the team to process the remaining manual requests faster. Take Profit Trader's wallet article says the funds move into your TPT wallet after your withdrawal from your PRO or PRO+ account is approved.

What this means for you: Be flat, wait for the 8-9 PM ET balance update, then request; Tradovate PRO lands in the wallet in seconds.

Payout step 2: wallet to bank, fees and methods

Sending wallet funds to your bank is a separate request. The Profit Team reviews it manually for compliance, which takes up to 12 business hours though usually a lot faster, and same-day deposit is not guaranteed. US bank payouts go through Plaid and are typically real-time, in some cases 1-2 business days depending on the bank; PayPal and Wise payouts take up to 12 business hours to process. Wise covers 160 countries and is the route for international bank wires; LLC payouts must use Wise, or PayPal if the LLC has its own PayPal account. The bank, Wise or PayPal account must belong to the person registered at Take Profit Trader, otherwise the payout is delayed for review or denied. Wallet withdrawals above $250 carry no fee; a withdrawal of $250 or less costs $50, deducted automatically, and PayPal may add its own fees. Before any withdrawal can be processed you must complete and sign the required tax form; the wallet article asks for it the first time you withdraw by a new payout method, and after each calendar year you receive a tax document summarising what you earned. All new registrants must complete KYC identity verification, usually within minutes. In the wallet, an admin approves the request (up to 12 business hours, usually a lot faster), then you select Proceed; a Plaid payout is usually real time and may take a couple of minutes.

What this means for you: Batch small amounts: a wallet withdrawal of $250 or less costs $50. Sign the tax form and finish KYC first.

How the PRO+ invitation works

Take Profit Trader describes PRO as a simulated account that is practice for PRO+, where you trade the live market with the firm's funds; PRO profits are still paid. PRO+ accounts are live with $0 margin, orders are routed directly to the exchange rather than copied, and the trader is classified as a professional and moved to professional market data. There is no single threshold: the firm reviews consistency, risk management, execution patterns and discipline over time, and sends an email invitation at its sole discretion. Its Sustainable Trading Policy says patterns such as maximum position size on most trades, repeatedly blowing through loss limits, relying on simulation-specific fills or account churning draw closer review, and that strategies which only work in simulation will not be funded. PRO performance is expected to replicate in PRO+; a material gap between the two is reviewed before more capital is extended.

What this means for you: You can't apply for PRO+; trade PRO the way you'd trade live.

What changes at the PRO+ upgrade

Setup typically takes several days after you complete the onboarding documents. The market data upgrade can take up to 12 hours, during which trading on your PRO and test accounts is temporarily unavailable. Once PRO+ is issued, all trading and withdrawals move to PRO+ and the PRO account is placed on hold. $5,000 of PRO profit is frozen and must stay in the PRO account while PRO+ is active; anything above $5,000 can be withdrawn immediately at the PRO split. The PRO+ account starts at $0 with an end-of-day drawdown equal to the original PRO's starting drawdown, so a 50K origin starts at $0 with a -$2,000 limit; realized end-of-day profit trails the minimum balance up until it reaches $0, where it stays. If the PRO+ account is lost, remaining PRO+ profit plus your share of the frozen $5,000 can be withdrawn; a negative PRO+ balance is deducted from that $5,000 first and the remainder is paid under the PRO split. A PRO+ account cannot be reset: if you lose it, you return to PRO+ by passing an evaluation or by resetting an existing PRO account, which Take Profit Trader then upgrades. You can hold up to five active funded accounts, PRO and PRO+ combined, and your full five-account allowance moves with you to PRO+. PRO+ commissions follow a separate structure, linked to the NinjaTrader and Tradovate pricing pages.

What this means for you: Budget for $5,000 staying frozen and no PRO+ reset.

PRO+ early close on earnings days

Take Profit Trader said on X on October 19, 2026 that it is updating PRO+ live trading hours during select major earnings announcements, specifically the Magnificent 7 and SpaceX. On days with those earnings reports, PRO+ live trading closes at 4:01 PM ET and resumes the following trading session at 6:00 PM ET. PRO and Test accounts are not affected: they keep trading until 4:55 PM ET as usual, when open positions are closed automatically. The early-close dates it listed for 2026: October 20 (SpaceX), October 21 (Tesla and Meta), October 28 (Microsoft and Alphabet), October 29 (Amazon), November 2 (Apple) and November 17 (Nvidia). The firm says earnings dates and companies may change, that it will tell active PRO+ account holders in advance, and that the dates show on the calendar in your dashboard. Its stated reason is that after-hours earnings bring less liquidity, wider spreads and higher volatility; Take Profit Trader says its own data shows 56x worse slippage during these reports and $2,613 more lost on average by active PRO+ traders during these events. As of October 19, 2026 the help-center PRO+ Account Rules article does not list the early close yet.

What this means for you: On the six listed earnings dates, be flat on PRO+ before 4:01 PM ET; PRO keeps 4:55 PM ET.

Drawdown in PRO vs PRO+

In PRO the trailing drawdown is intraday and uses your peak balance including unrealized gains. The firm's $25,000 example: with a $1,500 drawdown, an unrealized profit of $1,000 lifts the minimum balance to $24,500 in real time; closing that trade for a $500 realized gain leaves the balance at $25,500 and the minimum at $24,500, so you are $1,000 from the limit. It trails until it reaches the starting balance and then stops moving; touching the minimum balance through realized or unrealized losses liquidates the account immediately. In PRO+ the drawdown is end-of-day, and the rules state that the balance including open positions must not reach the limit. The homepage table lists Drawdown as Intraday for PRO and End Of Day for PRO+, and Daily loss rule None for both. Traders placed in PRO+ Development get a smaller end-of-day drawdown and a soft-breach daily loss limit; see the PRO+ Development section.

What this means for you: Same drawdown amount, but PRO trails your open profit; PRO+ only trails at the close.

The consistency rule that gates PRO

To move from the Trading Test to PRO you need at least 3 trading days (a day with at least one trade) and your best day must be below 50% of total net profit. Exceeding 50% does not fail the test; the required profit rises to more than twice your best day. The firm's 50K example: days of +$2,000, +$600 and +$500 give $2,000 / $3,100 = 65%, so you must make more than $4,000 before the account qualifies.

What this means for you: One big day delays PRO but doesn't fail the Test.

PRO+ Development: tighter limits, same payouts

PRO+ Development is a version of the live PRO+ account: you still trade Take Profit Trader's live capital, with three differences from standard PRO+: reduced contract sizing, a soft-breach daily loss limit that pauses you instead of failing you, and a smaller end-of-day drawdown. Take Profit Trader's table (contract maximum mini/micro, soft-breach daily loss limit, end-of-day drawdown): 25K 1/10, $500, $750; 50K 2/20, $1,000, $1,250; 75K 3/30, $1,250, $1,500; 100K 4/40, $1,500, $1,750; 150K 5/50, $2,000, $2,250. It states: 'The payout policy remains unchanged. Daily payouts with no withdrawal limits.' Placement follows a review of overall performance, strategy and risk behaviour across PRO and live accounts, typically for patterns such as aggressive sizing, rapid drawdowns, blowing through loss limits or single-session losses that put the account at risk. It is not permanent: the firm wants to see roughly 60 days of consistent, disciplined risk management, and you can request a manual review at any time by sending your User ID and context to its development team. The article does not say how the 25K to 150K sizes map onto a live account that starts at $0.

What this means for you: Development changes your risk limits, not your payouts.

The 30-day live-capital cooldown (PRO+ Development only)

Over any rolling 30-day window Take Profit Trader tracks your net loss of its live capital across your PRO+ Development accounts. If that total reaches $10,000, a cooldown starts and new purchases are paused for 30 days; every account you already own keeps trading normally and the wallet stays fully withdrawable. Only losses below an account's starting balance count; profit you built and gave back, profit you withdrew and purchase fees do not. Take Profit Trader's share of live payouts credits back: live payouts split 90/10, so withdrawing $10,000 means you keep $9,000 and the firm's $1,000 share reduces your 30-day total by $1,000. On a breach the account's actual ending balance is applied, not its maximum loss limit. The firm's example: starting balance $0, day 1 lost $200 (end-of-day balance -$200), day 2 profit $500 (+$300), day 3 lost $2,500, drawdown breached, ending balance -$2,200, so $2,200 counts toward the threshold. In cooldown you cannot buy new subscriptions, test resets or PRO resets and cannot receive a standard PRO+ account, but you can still trade any active test, PRO or PRO+ account and can activate passed tests into PRO+ Development accounts. After 30 days, purchasing can reopen following a standard risk-team review.

What this means for you: Cooldown stops new purchases, not withdrawals.

Costs after you pass: commissions, resets and account limits

Test and PRO commissions are set by Take Profit Trader: $4.50 per round trip per contract on futures and $1.50 per round trip per contract on micros; the homepage prints them as $4.50/$1.50 RT. PRO+ uses a separate structure, with the help center pointing to the NinjaTrader and Tradovate pricing pages and the homepage listing Broker rates. A PRO account can be reset up to three times per account: 25K $449, 50K $649, 75K $799, 100K $999 and 150K $1,499 (the help center prints $1499); a disabled PRO subscription is closed and can no longer be reset. A PRO+ account cannot be reset. The homepage comparison table lists Fees for PRO Account as One Time $130 Fee. You can trade up to five active funded accounts (PRO and PRO+ combined) and activate up to 10 passed tests within 30 calendar days; tests do not count toward the five.

What this means for you: Commissions and resets come out of your 80%.

Where Take Profit Trader's pages differ

(a) Day one vs buffer: the homepage table says PRO withdrawals start Day one with 0 days until the first withdrawal, and the Speed of Payouts Q&A says eligibility is 'still day-1 and daily in PRO', but the withdrawal-rules article says you must build a buffer first. (b) The buffer zone is both an amount and a balance: the article calls the $2,000 maximum drawdown the buffer zone on a 50K, while its Buffer Zone table lists balances ($26,500 to $154,500). (c) '80% of total profit': at $52,000 a 50K account can 'start withdrawing at 80% of total profit'. We read 80% as the 80/20 split, because the withdrawal form deducts the 20% automatically. The page does not say whether 'total profit' includes the $2,000 buffer itself; the homepage says there are 'no withdrawal restrictions on your profits above the buffer'. So our checker counts only the profit above the buffer balance as covered. (d) 'You can withdraw 50% of your Buffer Zone after your account is closed' does not say whether that is half the amount or half the balance, or whether the split applies. (e) Bank speed: the homepage FAQ says payouts arrive typically within one business day; the help center says Plaid is typically real time or 1-2 business days and PayPal or Wise up to 12 business hours, after an admin review of up to 12 business hours. (f) Manual account-to-wallet list: the PRO-to-wallet article names cancelled or disabled PRO accounts and all Rithmic accounts; the Speed Q&A names Rithmic PRO, PRO+ and some archived Tradovate PRO accounts. This guide uses both lists. (g) The Speed Q&A says the Profit Team 'manually reviews payout requests to the wallet' in its answer about the bank step; the wallet article confirms that wallet payout requests need admin approval. (h) PRO+ Development vs PRO+: the PRO+ rules, upgrade and homepage pages describe one PRO+ with a drawdown equal to the original PRO's and Daily loss rule None, while the Development article gives smaller drawdowns and a soft-breach daily loss limit, and the cooldown article says passed tests can be activated straight into Development, a path the upgrade article does not describe. (i) Bots and algos: the PRO rules list the ban; the PRO+ rules article is silent; the Universal Trading Policies apply it to Test, PRO and PRO+ (#1 no trading bots or algos; #6 positions may not be held from one session to the next). (j) The upgrade article says all future trading and withdrawals must be done on the PRO+ account only, while the multiple-accounts article says the five-account allowance moves with you, the homepage allows PRO, PRO+ or a combination, and the cooldown article mentions trading any active test, PRO or PRO+ account. The pages do not say whether other PRO accounts keep trading after an upgrade. (k) No page says what happens if your PRO profit is below $5,000 when PRO+ is issued.

What this means for you: Where pages differ, ask support before a big request.

Our arithmetic (not Take Profit Trader figures)

To go = buffer balance minus your balance; profit above the buffer = your balance minus the buffer balance. 50K example: a $54,000 balance is $2,000 above $52,000; a $2,000 request pays $1,600 at 80% and leaves $52,000, which is $2,000 above the $50,000 floor, where the PRO drawdown stops trailing. The buffer is your room above that floor, which is why we do not count it as withdrawable. Receive = request x 80% on PRO and x 90% on PRO+. A wallet withdrawal of $250 or less costs $50: $250 / 80% = $312.50 is the largest PRO request whose 80% stays at or below $250, and $250 / 90% = about $277.78 on PRO+. Frozen $5,000: your share at the 80/20 split is $4,000; a PRO+ account that ends at -$1,000 leaves $4,000 of the frozen $5,000, which pays $3,200 at 80%. PRO profit at the upgrade = PRO balance minus account size; the part above $5,000 is paid at 80%. The PRO+ floor reaches $0 once an end-of-day balance reaches the drawdown amount: $2,000 from a 50K PRO, or $1,250 on 50K PRO+ Development. Room after a PRO request = balance minus request minus account size.

What this means for you: Profit above the buffer is the only amount the pages clearly cover.

FAQ

How much profit do you need before withdrawing from a Take Profit Trader PRO account?

Take Profit Trader PRO pays 80/20, so you keep 80%, and you must first build a buffer equal to the account's maximum drawdown: a 50K PRO needs a balance of $52,000. The buffer is $1,500 on 25K, $2,000 on 50K, $2,500 on 75K, $3,000 on 100K and $4,500 on 150K. (per takeprofittraderhelp.zendesk.com, checked )

What is Take Profit Trader PRO+ and how do you get it?

PRO+ is a live account, routed directly to the exchange, offered by email invitation at Take Profit Trader's sole discretion after a holistic review, with no single threshold. It pays 90/10 with no buffer, starts at a $0 balance with an end-of-day drawdown equal to the original PRO's starting drawdown, and $5,000 of PRO profit stays frozen in the PRO account while PRO+ is active. How fast are Take Profit Trader payouts?

On Tradovate PRO accounts the account-to-wallet withdrawal is automated and takes 5-10 seconds, while Rithmic, PRO+ and some archived Tradovate accounts still go through manual review. Sending wallet funds to your bank is a separate request that the Profit Team reviews in up to 12 business hours, usually faster. (per takeprofittraderhelp.zendesk.com, checked )

Can you withdraw the buffer itself from a Take Profit Trader PRO account?

Take Profit Trader's help center does not describe withdrawing the buffer while the PRO account is open; the homepage speaks of no restrictions on profits above the buffer. After the account is closed you can withdraw 50% of your Buffer Zone, but the article does not define whether that is the amount or the balance, so confirm with the firm before relying on it. What is PRO+ Development and does it change payouts?

PRO+ Development is a live PRO+ version with reduced contracts, a soft-breach daily loss limit and a smaller end-of-day drawdown: on 50K, 2/20 contracts, $1,000 and $1,250. Take Profit Trader says the payout policy remains unchanged, with daily payouts and no withdrawal limits. A $10,000 net loss of live capital in a rolling 30-day window pauses new purchases for 30 days, not withdrawals. (per takeprofittraderhelp.zendesk.com, checked )
