Coloured bar = this size. ◆ on the target bar = 50% of the target: if you stop exactly at the target, your best day must stay under it (our arithmetic from Rule 5). The floor moves only at the end of the day, but touching it at any time, even on an open loss, liquidates the test. Starting floors other than $23,500 are our subtraction of the drawdown from the starting balance; all other figures are Take Profit Trader's.

Each ladder counts consecutive full-size losing trades from a fresh Trading Test until the published end-of-day trailing drawdown is used up. The Test has no daily loss limit, so there is no session stop before that. Your room is never more than the drawdown amount, so this is the best case.

The floor only moves at the end of the day and never moves down after a losing day, so the count holds across days. After any winning day the floor trails up behind your highest end-of-day balance, your room is smaller and the count is shorter, so this is the best case. The breach check is not end-of-day: if the balance touches the Minimum Account Balance at any time, including on an open loss, the account is liquidated at once, so a stop that slips past its price counts in full.

TOO TIGHT: each loser is more than a fifth of your room, so the drawdown is used up by trade 5 at the latest. WORKABLE: between a fifth and a tenth. COMFORTABLE: a tenth or less, so the drawdown is not used up before trade 10. OVER CONTRACT CAP: more contracts than Rule 2 allows open at once on that size.
Educational, not advice. The ladder ignores commissions and slippage. Rule 3 says the account is immediately liquidated if it drops to the Minimum Account Balance at any time, through realized or unrealized losses, and Rule 4 flattens open positions at 4:55 PM Eastern. The short answer
The Take Profit Trader Trading Test comes in five sizes, 25K, 50K, 75K, 100K and 150K, with one rule shape: an end-of-day trailing drawdown that stops at the starting balance, at least 3 trading days, a best day below 50% of net profit, no daily loss limit and no time limit on the monthly subscription. Only the target, drawdown, position cap, reset price and points change with size in the help center; the monthly test price ($170/month on 50K) is on the homepage. The trap: the floor moves only at the end of the day, but touching it at any time, even on an open loss, liquidates the test.
Key facts:
- 25K: $1,500 target, $1,500 drawdown (floor starts at $23,500), 3 contracts or 30 micros, $79 reset.
- 50K: $3,000 target, $2,000 drawdown (floor $48,000), 6 contracts or 60 micros, $99 reset.
- 75K: $4,500 target, $2,500 drawdown (floor $72,500), 9 contracts or 90 micros, $139 reset.
- 100K: $6,000 target, $3,000 drawdown (floor $97,000), 12 contracts or 120 micros, $169 reset.
- 150K: $9,000 target, $4,500 drawdown (floor $145,500), 15 contracts or 150 micros, $199 reset.
- Every size: at least 3 trading days, best day below 50% of net profit, trading window 6 PM to 5 PM Eastern with auto-flat at 4:55 PM, no daily loss limit, and the standard $130 PRO activation fee after you pass.
Watch out:
- Liquidation is not end-of-day: if the balance touches the Minimum Account Balance at any time, including on an open loss, the test is liquidated immediately.
- Missing the 50% consistency rule is not a fail: the goal rises to more than twice your best day, and the dashboard shows the new figure.
- Open positions are closed automatically at 4:55 PM Eastern; if your product's market closes earlier, including on a holiday schedule, and you are still in, the account is liquidated.
- Breaking a rule does not cancel the monthly subscription; cancel it yourself in the dashboard. The help center does not state the monthly fee.
- No counter positions across any accounts you control, such as ES vs MES, NQ vs MNQ or YM vs MYM, including trades placed by a trade copier.
Pick 25K if you trade up to 3 contracts or 30 micros and want the cheapest $79 reset; the $1,500 target equals the $1,500 drawdown.
Pick 50K if you need up to 6 contracts or 60 micros; the $3,000 target sits against $2,000 of drawdown, and a reset is $99.
Pick 75K if you need up to 9 contracts or 90 micros; the $4,500 target sits against $2,500 of drawdown, and a reset is $139.
Pick 100K if you need up to 12 contracts or 120 micros; the $6,000 target is twice the $3,000 drawdown, and a reset is $169.
Pick 150K if you need up to 15 contracts or 150 micros, or want the most room: $4,500 of drawdown against a $9,000 target; a reset is $199.

Rules 1 and 2: profit target and maximum position
Rule 1 sets one profit target per account size: $1,500 on 25K, $3,000 on 50K, $4,500 on 75K, $6,000 on 100K and $9,000 on 150K. Rule 2 caps the number of contracts you can have open at once, and the firm calls it a static number: 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15 standard contracts. On permitted micro products the allowance is 10x, so the firm's own example is up to 60 micro contracts on the 50K. The article does not describe how a mixed position of standard and micro contracts is counted, so ask support before combining them. The permitted-products list currently names ten micro symbols: MES, MNQ, MYM, M2K, MCL, MGC, MBT, MET, M6E and M6A. Our arithmetic, not the firm's: the 25K target equals its drawdown, the 50K target is 1.5 times its drawdown, the 75K target is 1.8 times, and the 100K and 150K targets are twice theirs.
What this means for you: Pick a size by the target you can reach and the contracts you need open at once; micros get 10x the allowance.
Rule 3: how the end-of-day trailing drawdown moves
The test drawdown is calculated only at the end of the trading day, not during open trades, and appears in the Control Center as Minimum Account Balance. The firm's 25K example: the drawdown is $1,500, so the minimum account balance starts at $23,500. If you earn $1,000 on day 1 your end-of-day balance is $26,000 and the minimum balance moves up to $24,500, still $1,500 behind your highest end-of-day balance. It keeps following your highest end-of-day balance until it reaches the original $25,000 starting balance, then stops trailing and stays fixed. The other starting floors in the table ($48,000, $72,500, $97,000, $145,500) are the same subtraction applied to the firm's drawdown figures. Because only end-of-day balances count, an intraday high that is gone by the close does not lift the floor.
What this means for you: Only your closing balance lifts the floor, and it stops rising once it reaches your starting balance.
When the test account is liquidated
The floor only moves at end of day, but the breach check is not end-of-day. Rule 3 says that if your account drops to the Minimum Account Balance at any time, through realized or unrealized losses, the account is immediately liquidated. An open loss that touches the floor during the session therefore ends the test even if the trade would have recovered by the close. The dashboard balance is not real time; it updates between 8 and 9 PM Eastern, so watch the floor on your platform. The firm's drawdown-tracking article, written for PRO accounts, points to the Auto Liquidate Threshold Value in RTrader Pro and the Drawdown Auto Liq Level and Dist Drawdown columns in Tradovate.
What this means for you: Treat the floor as live during the session: an open loss that touches it ends the test, even if the trade would have recovered.
Test drawdown vs PRO drawdown
Keep the two scopes apart. On the Trading Test the trailing floor follows your highest end-of-day balance. On PRO accounts, the firm's drawdown-tracking article says the trailing drawdown is calculated intraday from your peak balance including realized and unrealized gains, and that it also stops trailing at the starting balance. Our Take Profit Trader PRO vs PRO+ payout guide, built from the firm's PRO articles, covers the PRO drawdown, the buffer you must build before withdrawals and the PRO+ end-of-day rule.
What this means for you: After you pass, the same drawdown amount starts trailing intraday on PRO, so leave more room than you did on the Test.
Rule 4: approved products, the 6 PM to 5 PM Eastern window and the 4:55 PM auto-flat
You may trade most futures listed on CME, CBOT, NYMEX and COMEX. The permitted-products list names 34 symbols: the index contracts ES, NQ, YM and RTY, energy CL and NG, metals GC, SI and HG, the treasury contracts ZT, ZF, ZN and UB, seven currency futures, soybeans, soybean oil, wheat, live cattle and the ten micros above. If a product you want is not listed, the firm asks you to contact live chat so it can review adding it. Positions cannot be carried from one trading day into the next: the window runs 6 PM to 5 PM Eastern, the trading day ends at 5 PM, and the firm automatically closes any open position at 4:55 PM Eastern. Trades opened at or after 6 PM count toward the next trading day. Two liquidation traps sit in this rule: if your product's market closes before 5 PM Eastern and you cannot exit before that close, the account is liquidated, and missing a holiday-adjusted close does the same. The holiday schedule is your responsibility.
What this means for you: Be flat before 4:55 PM Eastern or before your product's own earlier or holiday close, every day.
Rule 5: three trading days and the 50% consistency rule
You must trade at least 3 trading days, where a trading day is any day with at least one trade; if you hit the target in 2 days you still need one more active day. There is no time limit. Your best day's net P/L divided by your total net P/L must be below 50%, and the firm stresses that exceeding it does not fail the account. Instead the required profit rises to more than twice your best day, and the updated goal appears in your dashboard. The firm's 50K example: days of +$2,000, +$600 and +$500 give $2,000 / $3,100 = 65%, so you must make more than $4,000 before the account qualifies. The threshold is strictly below 50%: the firm's own check is $2,000 / $4,001. The dashboard's How Am I Doing? panel shows trading days, progress to target, consistency and any broken rule, and updates between 8 and 9 PM Eastern.
What this means for you: Plan at least 3 trading days and keep your best day under half of your total profit, or the goal moves up.
Rule 6: no counter positions on any account you control
Rule 6 is not specific to the test. It bans opposite positions in the same or closely related products across any accounts under the same beneficial control, and it bans coordinating or mirroring opposite trades with another trader. The related pairs named today are ES and MES, NQ and MNQ, YM and MYM, and the firm says the list is not exhaustive. Its example: long 2 ES in one account and short 1 MES in another is a violation and both accounts are liquidated automatically. When a counter position is detected the account is liquidated, all profit in it is forfeited, and you receive an email with a downloadable Counter-Positions Report; repeated or severe cases can bring permanent closure or a ban. Multiple accounts are allowed as long as they never hold opposite positions, hedging with correlated futures is prohibited, and opposite positions created by a trade copier count as your own trades. The FAQ says a liquidated test account may be reset or, depending on circumstances, wait until its next renewal date for possible re-activation.
What this means for you: Never be long in one account and short the same or a related product in another, including through a copier.
Bots and trade copiers
Take Profit Trader's Universal Trading Policies (help center, updated 6 March 2026, read on 18 October 2026) apply to all Test, PRO and PRO+ accounts; policy #1 says automated trading systems, bots, or algorithmic execution tools are not permitted on Test, PRO or PRO+ accounts, and the PRO Account Rules add that all trades must be manually executed by the trader. Its Trade Copier Policy (updated 6 March 2026, read on 18 October 2026) says trade copiers are permitted solely for managing accounts owned and controlled by you, with approved copiers only; copiers are not allowed between different users or for opposing or offsetting positions. The approved list is Tradesyncer, TradeCopia, Affordable Indicators, Replikanto Flowbot (Compliance Edition only) and platform-native copier tools such as those in Tradovate, NinjaTrader, MotiveWave and Quantower; unapproved, modified or non-compliance versions may lead to enforcement action. Violations can mean profit forfeiture, an account reset or liquidation, account closure or a permanent ban.
What this means for you: No bots or algos on any Take Profit Trader account; an approved copier across your own accounts is fine, never in opposite directions.
Subscription, resets and failing the test
The test is a monthly subscription billed on the same calendar day as the original purchase under it; the rule articles do not state the fee, but on 2026-10-18 the homepage pricing section listed the Test at $150/month on 25K, $170/month on 50K, $245/month on 75K, $330/month on 100K and $360/month on 150K, before any promo code. Breaking a rule does not cancel the subscription, you must cancel it yourself in the dashboard. A reset gives you a new test with the same parameters and rules and costs $79 on 25K, $99 on 50K, $139 on 75K, $169 on 100K and $199 on 150K; it does not change the renewal date. If a renewal payment fails after the firm's retries the account expires and cannot be reactivated, and an overdue balance blocks the move to PRO even after a pass. Passing cancels the subscription automatically, and PRO has no recurring subscription fee. The firm's points program gives 250 points the first time you pass and 1 point per dollar spent; a reset can be redeemed for 2,000 to 10,000 points and a new test account for 3,000 to 11,000 points depending on size. We do not convert points to dollars.
What this means for you: A failed test keeps billing until you cancel; a reset costs $79 to $199 and keeps your renewal date.
Test vs PRO vs PRO+ on the homepage
The takeprofittrader.com homepage has a table titled Your Take Profit Funded Journey with one column each for Test, PRO and PRO+. As printed on 15 October 2026: Environment SIM, SIM and LIVE; Withdrawals None, Day one and Day one; Profit split None, 80/20 and 90/10; Maximum # of accounts Unlimited, 5 and 5; Maximum withdrawal amount None, No max and No max; Buffer requirement None, Yes and None; Daily loss rule None on all three; Drawdown End Of Day, Intraday and End Of Day; Consistency rule Yes, None and None; News rule None, Yes and Yes; Scaling plan None on all three; Commissions $4.50/$1.50 RT on Test and PRO and Broker rates on PRO+. The homepage does not label which commission figure applies to which contract. Its FAQ says you can trade up to five funded accounts, PRO accounts, PRO+ live-market accounts or a combination of both up to five, so the 5 is one combined total. The homepage comparison table lists Fees for PRO Account as One Time $130 Fee, and the help center's credit article calls $130 the standard activation fee for a PRO account; some promotional codes replace it with a PRO Activation credit. PRO Day one withdrawals come from profits above the buffer, which our PRO vs PRO+ payout guide covers. The PRO Account Rules article says the maximum drawdown in PRO equals the maximum drawdown from your passed test, calculated intraday. Its news rule: all PRO accounts must be out of all open positions and have no open orders one minute before, during and one minute after any prohibited news event, namely FOMC statements and announcements on Wednesdays at 2:00 PM ET (Fed speakers and FOMC meeting minutes are allowed), Non-Farm Payroll (NFP) monthly on Fridays at 8:30 AM ET, and the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
What this means for you: Passing adds a buffer, an intraday drawdown and a news rule on PRO; PRO+ goes back to end-of-day with no buffer.
What Rules 1 to 6 do not say
The six rule articles list no daily loss limit and no news-trading restriction for the test, and the homepage's Test column agrees: Daily loss rule None and News rule None. The rule articles do not cap the number of resets. They do not say how micro and standard contracts combine against the position cap, and outside the Rule 6 counter-position case they do not describe what happens to a failed test at renewal. Where this guide says the firm does not state something, ask its live chat rather than assuming. We re-read every help-center article cited here on 15 October 2026 and again on 16 October 2026 and found the Test figures unchanged since the first check on 14 October 2026.
What this means for you: There is no daily loss limit or news rule on the Test; for anything the articles leave out, ask live chat.
Our arithmetic across sizes
These are TradeDesk HQ divisions and subtractions of Take Profit Trader's published figures, not firm claims. Target versus drawdown: the 25K target equals its drawdown (1 times), the 50K target is 1.5 times its drawdown, the 75K target is 1.8 times, and the 100K and 150K targets are 2 times. Best day at the target: because the best day must be below 50% of net profit, a trader who stops exactly at the target needs a best day under $750 on 25K, $1,500 on 50K, $2,250 on 75K, $3,000 on 100K and $4,500 on 150K; a bigger best day raises the goal to more than twice that day. Floor to the starting balance: the minimum account balance stops trailing once it reaches the starting balance, which takes end-of-day profit equal to the drawdown, $1,500, $2,000, $2,500, $3,000 and $4,500 by size. The ladder calculator on this page counts consecutive full-size losing trades against the drawdown from a fresh test; its TOO TIGHT (room for fewer than 5 full losers: each loser is more than a fifth of the drawdown), WORKABLE (between a fifth and a tenth) and COMFORTABLE (a tenth or less, room for 10 or more) tags are our rule of thumb, and its point values ($2 MNQ, $5 MES, $20 NQ, $50 ES) are CME contract specs, not Take Profit Trader figures.
What this means for you: Use the ratios and best-day caps to plan your days; they are our arithmetic, not a Take Profit Trader claim.
FAQ
What are the Take Profit Trader Trading Test rules for the 50K account?
The Take Profit Trader 50K Trading Test requires a $3,000 profit target with a $2,000 end-of-day trailing drawdown and at most 6 contracts or 60 micros open at once. You must trade at least 3 days and keep your best day below 50% of net profit, with no time limit on the monthly subscription.
What is the profit target and drawdown for each Take Profit Trader account size?
Take Profit Trader's profit targets are $1,500 on 25K, $3,000 on 50K, $4,500 on 75K, $6,000 on 100K and $9,000 on 150K. The end-of-day trailing drawdowns are $1,500, $2,000, $2,500, $3,000 and $4,500 respectively.
How does the Take Profit Trader end-of-day trailing drawdown work?
The drawdown is recalculated only at the end of each trading day and follows your highest end-of-day balance until it reaches the original starting balance, where it stops. On the 25K the floor starts at $23,500; if you earn $1,000 on day one it rises to $24,500. If the balance touches the floor at any time, including on open losses, the account is liquidated.
How much does it cost to reset a Take Profit Trader test?
A reset costs $79 on 25K, $99 on 50K, $139 on 75K, $169 on 100K and $199 on 150K, or 2,000 to 10,000 loyalty points. It gives a new test with the same rules and does not change the renewal date.
Does the Take Profit Trader Trading Test have a daily loss limit or a news rule?
No. The homepage's Test column lists Daily loss rule None and News rule None, and the six rule articles list neither. The same homepage table marks News rule Yes for PRO and PRO+, so the news rule starts after you pass.
