Max loss and daily loss limits from 26 futures prop firms' official pages, checked to · how to lock it on Tradovate
In short: pick your firm and plan, instrument, contracts and stop. The calculator shows how many losing trades your daily lock allows, how many losing days you can take before the max loss, and warns if your lock is above the firm's own daily loss limit.

Buffer after one locked day$1,500
Max loss $2,000 · firm daily loss limit $1,000
Apex 50K: lock $500/day = 12 losing trades a day (2 MNQ, 40-tick stop = $40), 4 losing days before the $2,000 max loss.
Losing trades per day = lock ÷ risk per trade, rounded down.
Losing days to max loss = max loss ÷ lock, rounded down. It assumes no profits yet, so the drawdown is at its starting distance. Buffer = max loss − lock.
Warnings: lock above the firm's daily loss limit, fewer than 2 losing days, or one trade bigger than the lock.
Slippage and commissions are not included; a stop can fill past your price in a fast market. With a trailing drawdown, enter the distance to your current threshold as a custom max loss.
What are the 50K max loss and daily loss limits by firm?
A daily loss lock is your own daily stop, set below your prop firm's rules and locked in the platform so you can't raise it after a bad trade. On Tradovate, Daily Loss Limit closes your positions and locks trading on that account until the next session at 6 PM ET, and ticking 'Lock risk settings if trading is locked' stops you from changing it while it is hit.
How many losing days does a 25% daily loss lock give you?
Four. Days survived is the max loss divided by the lock, rounded down: 25% of max loss leaves room for 4 full losing days, 20% for 5 and 33% for 3. With a trailing drawdown, use the distance to your current threshold, not the starting max loss.
How do you work out losing trades per day?
Risk per trade is contracts × stop in ticks × tick value. Losing trades per day is your lock divided by that risk, rounded down. Example: 2 MNQ with a 40-tick stop risks $40 a trade, so a $500 lock allows 12 stopped-out trades before it hits.
Which 50K futures prop firms have no daily loss limit?
In our 50K data, 13 of 26 plans have no firm daily loss limit: Alpha Futures, BluSky, E8, FTMO, Funded Family, FundedNext, MyFundedFutures, Phidias, Take Profit Trader, The5ers, TradeDay, Tradeify, Ylos. On those plans your own lock is the only daily stop, so the max loss is all that is left after a bad day.
